the dragon descends

He could feel how it hated him. How it hated Kavinsky, too. How it hated the world.
It was so hungry.
OOC Log Date: Feb 1, 2016Timeline of Events
IC Event Date: Feb 8, 2016 (morning), backtags encouraged
Gamewide Accessibility: Mostly closed to CR (or CR of CR), see below for details
Character Death: No
Warnings: Spoilers for The Raven Cycle, violence and potential injury, vague psychological and self-harm themes
Similar to canon, Kavinsky is going to manifest a dragon made of smoke, fire, and hatred out of his dreams. Though within the destructive limits enforced by the gatekeepers of Eudio, its malice and incredible physical durability mean that it poses a real threat to anyone that it comes across.
The primary targets of the dragon's wrath will be Kavinsky's existing CR and Kavinsky himself. However, if those individuals happen to be near others, they may share the threat. Additionally, out-of-control fires are a real possibility. The NPC sorceress Cornelia, of the Eudio representatives, will promptly begin efforts to protect the people and property of the city and to deal with the threat directly. However, Ronan Lynch will persuade her to allow he and Kavinsky to handle the destruction of the dragon itself. In the meantime, the dragon will make a series of short stops around Eudio to terrorize people, before it pursues Kavinsky in earnest. Some of these people may be fortunate enough to receive a warning before the monster arrives!
With use of taunts, attacks, and redirection, participating parties will lure the fire dragon to Benson Park. There, it will meet its doom at the lake, where a different dream monster awaits it. The fire dragon will be killed by Ronan Lynch's secret Care Bear stare.
Afterward, Kavinsky will face disciplinary action and give up his powers for a yet-undetermined length of time. Other IC Consequences are welcome, including the throwing of rotten fruit, hatemail, and murder attempts.
Roleplay Hooks
If you have CR with Kavinsky or any of the other characters noted as involved, feel free to join in. This plot is not completel open to the public, in the interest of limiting the scope of the threat and preserving the game's focus on consent (i.e., otherwise Cornelia would simply take over). However, if you'd really like to pop in and you either don't meet the above criteria or aren't sure if you do, shoot me a pm at
![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Participating characters will be attacked, rescue or be rescued, outwit the monster (it's not that smart), fight fires, or heal the injured.
This plot will begin and end ICly on February 8, between 7:00AM and 12:00PM/noon. However, the log may be posted earlier and forward dated. Backtag as long as you and your partners would like. I'll put out starters for 1) dragon NPC requests and 2) finale at Benson Park. However, this will also provide an open space for people to RP out fighting the dragon, fire-fighting fires, and rescuing or helping one another. It can also have space for hospital care and so on in the aftermath. I'm happy to NPC the dragon. Just let me know!
Monster 'Stats' Characteristics
The dragon is characterized by monstrous size (almost 30 feet including the tail), flight, teeth and powers related to fire. It is strong and heavy enough to crush a single car with focused effort. Although it does not fatigue like a normal organism, it requires up to a few minutes to recharge and refocus between such full-out assaults. Despite its form, the dragon does not actually breathe fire. However, its body is in a perpetual state of combustion, which means that anything dry and incendiary enough will catch fire. Burning will continue as natural even after the creature has left.
It is extraordinarily durable against assault, due to the fact that it has both limited corporeal substance and magical resilience. Cold, water, and power nullification will create visible damage, whereas assaults of other types of energy and physical trauma will temporarily weaken it and eventually send it away.
Generally, it as a horrible attitude. It can't talk, but it can make shrieky burny noises.
